Bladrus: A Bold, Sculptural Display Font
Practical Designer Notes You’ll Actually Use
- Always test Bladrus in black and white first—its contrast and structure shine without color distraction.
- Check small-size readability on actual mockups: print a label, view a website header on mobile, hold a business card at arm’s length.
- Compare uppercase vs. lowercase usage. Uppercase Bladrus reads stronger and more iconic; lowercase offers subtle warmth but demands more leading and tracking.
- Review spacing rigorously. Kerning pairs like “To”, “AV”, and “Wa” need manual attention in headline settings.
- Test pairings deliberately: beside a sturdy serif (e.g., Playfair Display) for editorial balance; a clean sans serif (e.g., Inter or Neue Haas Grotesk) for modern contrast; a delicate script font for luxury contrast; and even another display font—just to confirm Bladrus isn’t getting lost in the chorus.
- Confirm commercial licensing before client work. Bladrus is a premium font—its license covers digital products, merch, and SaaS interfaces, but always verify redistribution rights if bundling in templates or design assets.
